expression of progestrone receptor and proliferative marker ki 67, in various grades of meningioma

چکیده
meningiomas are slow-growing neoplasms which recur locally, their morphologic grading is simple but do not always correlate with patient outcome. the aim of present study is to evaluate the status of progesterone receptor (pr) and proliferation marker ki67 in various grades of meningioma in a group of iranian patients. 78 cases of meningioma were selected from the file of a hospital university. all archival h&e; stained sections were reviewed and regraded according to who criteria. immunohistochemical analysis for pr and ki67 was performed on formalin- fixed, paraffin- embedded samples. pr status considered positive if > 10% of tumor cell's nuclei were strongly immunoreactive, or if > 50% of nuclei were stained with medium intensity. the ki67 labeling index (li) is defined as the percentage area with strongest immunostaining. pr were positive in 61/63(96.8%) of grade i tumors,2/10(20%) of grade ii,and 0/5(0%) of grade iii tumors.ki67 li was %2.98±2.27 in grade i tumors, %9.30±5.79 in grade ii tumors and %34.00±5.47 in grade iii tumors. for both markers, differences between grade i,ii and iii tumors were significant(p

Material and Methods: The present study was conducted on 40 specimens of breast carcinoma out of which 12 cases were of Grade II and 28 cases were of Grade III. Percentage positivity and scoring of Ki-67 and mean AgNOR count was done with relation to grades. Observations: Ki-67 positivity was seen in 12 cases with the percentage positivity of 2.33±5.516 in grade II and 9.67±7.671 in grade III t...

Background: Meningioma is among the most common slow growing central nervous neoplasms, which recurs locally despite the benign histologic features. The aim of this study was to evaluate osteopontin and ki67 expressions in different histologic grades of meningioma in a group of Iranian people. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, first, the paraffin blocks with the definite pathological dia...
متن کاملCorrelation of Ki-67 and MCM-2 proliferative marker expression with grade of histological malignancy (G) in ductal breast cancers.
The study aimed at examining a relationship between expression of Ki-67 antigen and minichromosome maintenance 2 protein (MCM-2) and a grade of histological malignancy G in ductal breast cancers. The function of widely used marker of proliferation Ki-67 is still not clear. In contrast, the MCM-2 protein is well known to play an important role in controlling the cell cycle. Both proteins represe...
متن کاملTyping and Grading of Soft Tissue Tumors and their Correlation with Proliferative Marker Ki-67
Material and Methods: The present study was conducted in the Department of Pathology, PGIMS, Rohtak. The study group comprised of excised 44 cases of STT (soft tissue tumors) specimens. Tumor grade was assigned based on the FNCLCC (Fédération Nationale des Centers de Lutte Contre le Cancer) grading system. According to the Ki-67 index the patients were divided into two groups: high index group ...
متن کاملEffect of embolisation of meningioma on Ki-67 proliferation index.
The proliferation indices (PIs) were determined in 33 meningiomas using two monoclonal antibodies to the Ki-67 antigen (Ki-67 and MIB1). PIs obtained using Ki-67 on frozen material were intermediate between the lowest and highest MIB1 PIs determined in paraffin wax sections. Preoperative embolisation did not influence Ki67 PI, but four of the 15 embolised tumours showed substantially increased ...

Objectives: Periapical Granulomas (PGs) and Radicular Cysts (RCs), as the most common odontogenic lesions have yet unclear pathogenesis. This study was aimed to compare PCNA and Ki-67 expression in PGs and RCs and evaluate their possible relationship with two lesions. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, twenty PGs and twenty RCs were evaluated immunohistochemically using an a...
